Hi There GreenCollerBlogers,

Green Jobs articles and blogs are beginning to address the career challenges of eclectic, energetic, and accomplished middle-agers. An untapped resource, many of us are un/under employed (that's me) or retiring, but still looking for new careers and eager to participate in the innovative Green Economy.

While some of us are technical specialists, others (such as me) are multi-disciplinary, less less computer-savvy generalists. I'm convinced that we can still be useful, even instrumental, in enabling and implementing community-to-global environmental and energy-based changes.

This leads to my situation, as an example. Since 1971, I've helped reclaim and revitalize communities (urban & regional planning), pioneered recycled/recyclable consumer products (corporate marketing and product development), instilled environmental consciousness and activism in students (elementary education), and built environmental sustainability into the design of consumer packaged goods (marketing consulting).

Actively looking for new challenges and a reasonable income source, I envision myself soon working within a governmental agency, nonprofit group, private startup or established business, trade association, or educational institution. I'm browsing the Web and reading books and articles, finding reliable and relevant news, learning valuable skills, networking, and making wonderful contacts. Still, I have not yet discovered that precious niche where to land. Thus, I'm appealing for your ideas, leads, and contacts that would help me and others visiting this blog.

With My Warmest Regards, Warren

I am interested in the work you were involved with where you "instilled environmental consciousness and activism in students (elementary education)."

I am just starting my career in junior high or high school teaching (biology) and want to do the same for my students. Any ideas or resources you might have would be much appreciated.
